Katrina Laverne Taylor, better known by her stage name Trina, is an American rapper and songwriter. Trina started rapping at the age of 14 and began to gain local attention with her freestyle rap skills. In 2003, she appeared on the track “Lose Control” by Static Major. The following year she released her debut album Miss Independent which spawned the hit single “Independent”. In 2006, Trina released her second album Miss Me? which failed to match the success of its predecessor. However, the singles “Bootylicious” and “Manipulate” both reached the Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. The former peaked at number 2 and received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance. Trina has since released three more albums: Greatest Hits (2009), The Emancipation (2011), and Jumping Ship (2013).

Trina was in an on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Lil Wayne from 2005 to 2007. The two first met when Wayne paid Trina $5,000 for a performance at one of his concerts. The two later dated and broke up multiple times, but reconciled briefly in 2006 before breaking up for good the following year. According to sources, the final break-up was due to Trina’s alleged cheating on Wayne with then-boyfriend Meek Mill. In January 2019, reports surfaced that Trina and Lil Wayne are back together and expecting their first child together.

After studying to get her real estate license, Trina caught the attention of Mia. They started working together and became good friends. In 1998, they both decided to start their own company. In 2010, they merged with another company and created Trina Taylor Properties. The company now has over 100 employees and operates in five states across the United States.
